How to Choose Car Maintenance Software

by admin on October 24, 2009

Cars are pretty much like your children. They seriously need attention from time to time to make sure that they will work out fine and pass the test of time. However, unlike children, there are times that you seem to forget what needs to be done for your vehicle. Thanks to car maintenance software, attending to the needs of your vehicle seems to be like a breeze already.

Many kinds of this software are actually developed in the market nowadays. This is one convenient way of being up-to-date in terms of the care for a particular vehicle. However, not all software in the market can cater you only the best. Therefore, it is needed that you very well select the products that you will be trusting as the caretaker of your vehicle.

Here are actually some tips on how you can be able to choose the maintenance software for you to use:

  • Your Purpose. Different kinds of people have different views on how they will be using this software. Usually, car maintenance software is used by average car owners, mechanics, and car enthusiasts as well. Depending on your desired purpose, get only the software that is enough to serve you with what you need.
  • The Features. There are a lot of software nowadays claiming to offer this and that. However, when you are going to get your pick, you need to constantly check of these following features:
  1. It needs to effectively provide up to date maintenance schedule of your vehicle based on the recommendations made by the manufacturer.
  2. It gives you comprehensive details on all the expenses made including operating and fuel costs.
  3. It needs to give you option of following manufacturer's recommendation for maintenance schedule or setting up your preferred schedule depending on your availability.
  4. It needs to have an access to database for recalls and technical service bulletins for any car problem that may come along the way.
  • The Ease of Use. What will you do with an all-powerful car maintenance software if it is too complicated to operate and understand? What is actually best is the one that has a user-friendly interface for your convenience. More often than not, it is convenient to use software that has functional gauges in display. This is essential so you can easily check the health and condition of your vehicle without running any commands. It is a good idea to check trial versions of software first before investing on them.
  • The Services. If you have more than one vehicle to manage, it is best to get an application that allows you to track multiple cars at the same time. In this case, there are lesser hassles in the operation of all the cars under your responsibility.
  • The Calculation Capability. One of the must-haves of a car maintenance application is having a good calculating capability in terms of the vehicle’s value. Choose the ones that feature a comprehensive detail of repair invoices, insurance policies, and the vehicle cost as well as the taxes.

Now, with the car maintenance software, you will never have a problem in your vehicle that is not covered. You can have peace of mind and continue on your day to day activities without the thought of missing a thing for your car. In the end, just like children, if they are taken cared of properly, as time passes, their value will not fade just like that.

The 319 has CFM56 engines hanging on it, but the basics pretty much apply to all jet engines. FIrst, what is the flight crew write-up pertaining to the strike? If the engine didn't have unusual vibrations, didn't have a compressor stall, and the EGT (exhaust gas temp) were all normal, they probably would only have to do a visual inspection of the fan and core engine/splitter area (area separating the bypass air from the core air). An exhaust inspection would also be performed. They may be required to borescope (internal view of some compressor stages performed through some borescope ports in the compressor case using a fiberoptic view of the internals) Examine the VBV's (variable bleed valves) looking for damage or evidence of birds. If all looks, good, perform an engine power/acceleration run and return the engine to service. If any damage is found along the way, the fan blades could be replaced, as necessary, or if internal damage is found to any compressor rotor or stator blades, they could possibly get continue in service authorization with repetitive borescopes or worse case scenario, the engine would have to come off. The procedures are pretty much the same for all jet engines.

Contrary to popular belief you can turn a steak more than once during cooking. Look for a piece of meat which is well marbled with fat. Take a good look at the color, the darker red the better. After you visually inspect the meat put your finger on it and make a dent. If the dent corrects itself fairly fast it is a good steak, not old and going rotten as some do. Get your pan or grill very hot before putting the steak in or on it and then turn the heat down to medium. This will cause the searing effect on the meat. I usually sear both sides while the pan or grill is very hot before turning the heat down. Then watch the steak and turn it when after three or four minutes. When you put your finger on the steak again and it is a bit firm you have a medium done steak. You can season the steak or not before cooking, I usually season it with cracked pepper, salt and some herbs I like. If you cook in a pan do not use butter, use half butter and half oil otherwise the steak will burn.
You can get a rib eye, a new york, porterhouse or Tbone steak. Fillet is good but you should get your grilling to a fine art before trying one because even though it is expensive it is also more dry, needs more turning and TLC to cook right.

I doubt if any will cover Albania and I would not drive through it if you paid me lots of money as it is very dangereous plus its not in the EU and neither is Croatia so I doubt that you will find a company.

Go from Patras, Greece to many different ports in Italy including Bari, Brindisi, Ancona and Venice. Sailed into Venice in 2005 and it was the greatest ferry journey I have ever taken.

Have you though about taking a rail pass too? You could pass through Croatia this way but does not go to Albania.

Why the hell do you want to go through Albania or is that how you see he rout on a map?

Broaden your choices to creat competition for your purchase, as great deals are coming this fall due to sell off of 06 models to make room for 07s. Also:
- many auto companies are hurting, thus, look for incentives such as 0% financing for good credit.
- Buy during last couple days of month, Sept. - Nov. 06, and last couple of hours of that day - preferably a rainy, cold Friday evening when no one is at the dealer, as salesmen are motivated to make their monthly sales goals, and they love ending their week/day with a sale, even if its not the best commission.
- Go to Edmonds.com and leverage internet to get dealers competing for you. Send-off an email to 3-4 and see who is hungry and responds.
- Know what your selected vehicle is going for. Edmonds has good data.
- Do not buy car that every one wants, as you will pay too much.
- Keep emotions under control, do not let them know you love it.
- Always ask for more options for less money, and offer much less than sticker w/o insulting them. If you offer a price and they immediately accept, you offered too much. You need to find their lowest price by having them reject your first/second/etc. offer. Have them suggest a number. Counter their answer with facts from your research and with alternative dealers/cars. And, make another offer, typically, no more than 1/2 of the difference between your initial and their reasonable counter.

Bottom line - know the highest price you will pay before you get into the negotiations dance, as emotions and logical thinking may be difficult to control at this stage, given the time investment on both sides. And, you need to be prepared to walk away if they do not accept your reasonable offer. The industry makes 15 - 20 million cars/trucks a year. I am sure there is more than one of those that fits your needs.

If you get within a couple hundred dollars, ask for more, e.g., options, car mats, free oil changes, 5 tanks of gas, etc. Also, leverage the potential of you getting your vehicle serviced at their dealership, as that is a substantial profit center for them. At this point, your time becomes more valuable than the couple hundred $$, so, get what you can, close-the-deal and drive away....

Good Luck,

So far people have been missing an important point. Diesels depend on very clean fuel. It's important to change fuel filters much more often than gasoline motors.

Since sulfur is a byproduct of normal diesel combustion it winds up in the motor oil making it look black very quickly. It's extremely important to adhere to special diesel engine oil change intervals.

A typical diesel motor will outlive a gasoline engine by a conservative 200%. Make sure you order an engine block heater if you purchase the diesel for happier winter starting.
